Eau de Space is the hot topic in the fragrance sector now. People have pledged over $480,000 on the Kickstarter page to bring a NASA- developed fragrance that smells like outer space to Earth’s territory.
Through sheer determination and a couple of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, the decade old fragrance that was only for astronaut field training is finally released. The Kickstarter campaign aims to raise enough money to manufacture the scent as perfume, bottle it up and ship it out.
So what does Eau de Space smell like? We obviously would not know, but astronauts discuss their experience of the distinct space smell- likening it to the lingering gunpowder scent at a shooting range. Others even compared it to a burnt cookie.
This Kickstarter project has received massive support from professionals in the fashion, tech, design and logistic fields, with the purpose of inspiring future generations to pursue careers related in science, technology, mathematics and aerospace.
